BSNL is sluggish, lazy, rubbish, no SLA. no person to attend calls/complaints... it is pathetic. Our country talks of globalization and telecommunication, then why don't they make voip as a legal? To be honest our country is behind other developing, they don't have aggresiveness... they just talk and no actual work...

my broadband from BSNL is dead for 2 weeks, every now and then it is down. we pay money for nothing. BSNL should be privatised and all BSNL employees including mgmt should be kicked on their ass...

Initially BSNL declared (I recall) in 2003, even after 5 yr i still hear BSNL is thinking to implement. Just implementing in metro (MTNL) doesn't mean we are voip enabled. Look pakistan has voip service allowed in their most citiea and you can get their DID across globe.

I have nothing good to say.. just pray and wait for voip to come to India.

Hi Venkat!
Unfortunately Indian Government do not allow virtual numbers at this point of time ... maybe in sometime in future.
Still you can have a Spa3102 installed at your relatives house in Chennai with landline phone attached.
This works same as a did however strictly for private use only.
Regards!

VoipBuddy

Hi,

It was interesting to read your blog. Here is my qurey: Similar to Vonage operating in US - do we have any operator operating in India? I am looking for a service provider who can provide me a chennai local number - through VoIP (ATA) that I can attach at my home in US. That way - Others at Chennai can call me at a local land line. Is this something on the anvil in India?

Thanks in Advance,

Venkat
