Most cable ethernet based Isp in India has it\’s own dialing client(except spectra net which has web based dialing) for which we require to login with our Pc connected or we have to load that specific dialer in router firmware which is a distant dream currently henceforth it is not guaranteed if this will work or not
Sify/Hathway broadband and RT31P2
steps:
1) Connect sify line to Voip adapter in internet port
2) connect a lan cable from Voip adapter to PC
3) Note down ip address, DNS etc set by sify on the PC
4) Set IP to obtain automatically and DNS to obtain automatically
5) from PC: go to http://192.168.15.1
6) Set internet type to “Static IP” - fields for IP and DNS etc will show up
7) Put the IP address and DNS given by sify here.
8 ) Dont touch anything else and save settings
9) test by pinging the sify/hathway gateway (the one that sify client tries to connect
10) Run sify/hathway client from PC and connect your phone
Using linksys Pap2 with Airtel
Pap2 is the most common & widely used model available in the market.
Beetel 220bx modem is used with 90% of the airtel connections.
(This model is imported from china & is rebranded as beetel
airtel home grown brand.)
Step by step configuration.
1) Test your connection speed , latency & jitters at
testyourvoip.com
2) Beetel220bx—LAN—->PAP2
Beetel220bx—Usb—->Computer for internet.
**these settings are for when you are using pap2 with 220bx
without any other external router.
3) Most connections work with PPPOE mode which you cud
check in modem by going to 192.168.1.1. Ensure it work on
pppoe which means automatic dialing.
4)When connected as shown in step 2 check whether power & ethernet light is switched on. If yes move to next step else goto to step 3(modem not configured properly)
5)Dial ****100# with the phone connected to pap2(any phone port). This is to find out Dhcp has been enabled or disabled. If enabled,move to step 7 else step 6.
6)Now to enable it Dial ****101#. Enter 1 to enable.
7) Dial ****110# with the phone connected to pap2(any phone port). You will listen to the ip address of your pap2 write it down.(# this is a temporary ip address so might or might not change every time the router or pap2 is rebooted)
6) Open your browser and put in the ip address in browser.
Change the settings as required and save.
You will receive the dial tone
